If you’re involved in a criminal case in Singapore and you’re represented by a Criminal Defence Lawyer, you can ask your lawyer to request for a Criminal Case Management Scheme (CCMS) meeting.
Here’s some information on what a CCMS meeting involves:
- The CCMS meeting takes place between your Criminal Defence Lawyer and the Prosecution e.g. Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) or a Prosecuting Officer (PO) from a Government agency handling your case
- The meeting is conducted on a Without Prejudice basis (which means that the contents of the meeting will not be held against any party to the meeting if an agreement or resolution is not reached)
- Both sides can discuss the evidence and the strengths and weaknesses of either side’s case
- One of the purpose is to try to discuss how the case may be resolved in a way that can achieve both parties’ respective objectives
