A Day Reporting Order (DRO) is administered by the Singapore Prison Service and requires the offender to report to a day reporting centre for monitoring, counselling and to undergo rehabilitation programmes. The Judge will consider the nature of the offence and the character of the offender.
The Judge will call for a report from a day reporting officer on the possible effects of counselling and rehabilitation on the offender. The length of the order can range from 3 months to 12 months. The Judge will also explain the purpose and effect of the DRO and the consequences for breaching the DRO.
If the DRO is successfully completed, the criminal record will be considered ‘spent’ meaning that the offender is deemed to have no record of that conviction.
