What is the Criminal Case Management Scheme (CCMS)?

The Criminal Case Management Scheme (CCMS) is a scheme implemented by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) which allows for a separate meeting to take place your lawyer and the Prosecutors from the AGC to have an informal discussion on your case. At this CCCM meeting, Prosecutors and your lawyer talk about the issues in dispute and may discuss plea negotiation or bargaining matters, where you may be asked to consider pleading guilty to less or reduced charges which may carry a lighter sentence. Your lawyer, while taking instructions from you, can also advise you on matters related to claiming trial or pleading guilty to less and/ or reduced charges. The CCMS meeting is only attended by your lawyer and the Prosecuting Officer and a Judge is not present at the meeting.
