What types of punishment can the Youth Court impose?

The Youth Court has the power to use the following options to deal with a juvenile offender upon a finding of guilt under s44 of the CYPA:

  1. Discharge the offender
  2. Commit the offender to the care of a relative or other fit person
  3. Offender’s parent or guardian to execute a bond to exercise proper care and guardianship
  4. Community service order
  5. Probation order
  6. Detention at a Place of Detention
  7. Weekend Detention at a Place of Detention or Approved Institution
  8. Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre
  9. Reformative Training Centre
  10. Payment of a fine, damages or costs
