A 27-year old man was sentenced to a total of four years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to four charges for offences of having sex with a 14-year old girl and threatening to upload videos of the sex acts unless the girl continued to have sex with him.
A further 17 charges were taken into consideration for the purpose of sentencing.
The man had become acquainted with the girl at a traditional dance club before they subsequently began an intimate relationship and had consensual sex at various locations including the staircase of a HDB flat and the girl’s cousin’s flat in Pandan Gardens.
After the had managed to obtain the help of the girl’s cousin to film him having sex with the girl, he threatened to upload the video footage online if the girl did not continue to have sex with him.
According to investigations, the girl had also given in to the man’s demands because she was scared and physically overpowered by him.
The Court was informed by a doctor from the Child Guidance Clinic that the victim had suffered emotionally and psychologically from the abuse.
