44 weeks’ imprisonment for multiple upskirt offences

A 27-year-old Singaporean man, a former student at the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), was sentenced to 44 weeks jail after pleading guilty to one count of performing a sexual act on the man without his consent.

Taking upskirt videos and insulting a woman’s modesty is an offence under section 377BA of the Penal Code (Cap 224) which states:


377BA. Whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any person, utters any word, makes any sound or gesture, or exhibits any object, intending that such word or sound will be heard, or that such gesture or object will be seen by such person, or intrudes upon the privacy of such person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
