Community-Based Sentences (CBS) are special types of sentencing options that give the Court more flexibility in sentencing. The Courts are given a broader range and variety of sentencing options for minor offences and appropriates cases. In appropriate cases, the Court will consider CBS instead of traditional sentences such as imprisonment or a fine. If the CBS is successfully completed, the criminal record will be considered ‘spent’ meaning that the offender is deemed to have no record of that conviction.
